Continued growth in tax services

Steady leadership amid policy change

The continued growth of RSM tax services in fiscal 2025 was driven by the firm’s commitment to delivering exceptional client experiences, developing our people and driving continuous innovation and improvement of our capabilities.

Exceptional experiences

The shift to a new administration brought with it uncertainty for domestic and global businesses of all sizes as the promise of tariffs on U.S. trading partners emerged. Tax policy remains a foundational discussion point as we seek to educate our clients, address their business concerns and advise them on strategies to manage the potential tax implications of policy changes.

RSM tax professionals brought a cohesive approach to global and domestic business needs by offering insights and planning on tariffs, trade and other hot-button tax policy, including global minimum corporate rates, R&D tax credits, employee retention and clean energy activities. RSM’s tax policy and legislative resource site kept businesses abreast of critical topics, while our informative webinars covering tariffs, strategic business planning and the expiring provisions of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 (TCJA) educated thousands of attendees over the last year.

While strategic planning for the future is essential for clients, unexpected impacts arise. Our team has supported clients in times of distress, including recent natural disasters such as Hurricane Helene and the California wildfires. During these crises, we reassured our clients by exploring their options for relief, helping them navigate federal and state-specific aid eligibility, and offering continued guidance.

Culture of development

Our ability to serve as trusted advisors who deliver exceptional experiences rests on the development of our tax professionals. We provide our people with targeted, level-based upskilling that features experiential simulations and client- and industry-focused opportunities that engage and educate. In fiscal 2025 our global learning included more than 99,000 hours of in-person development through 12 events across three countries, including a brand-new conference with nearly 1,400 attendees.

As economic conditions evolve, we continue to equip our client teams with relevant business and industry insights through micro-learning opportunities, tax policy and legislative updates, and in-house webinars and events.

Service through innovation

Strengthening our ability to serve our clients requires continuous innovation to solve unique business needs, support internal efficiencies and collaboration, enhance quality, and digitally transform our services. With best-in-class proprietary technology such as PartnerSight, RSM has continued to build on our capabilities and expand the service and business insights we provide.
Most recently, our Center for Advanced Tax Technology (CATT) team collaborated with tax specialists in RSM’s ultra-high net worth, real estate and family office teams to transition from legacy software to a new module that addresses the distinct needs of private wealth clients and prospects.

Within 12 months, CATT worked with our tax specialists to identify the right client-type specifications and gain a deeper understanding of individual tax compliance. The integrated team developed a new PartnerSight module that streamlined the K-1 information intake process for Form 1040 and created a training component that addressed the custom needs of client servers across two practices based on levels of experience.
